FINRA’s 5 Biggest Fine Categories in First Half of 2014
During the first half of 2014 FINRA fined member firms at an alarming pace. If FINRA continues on this track, total fines for 2014 will be the highest since the housing crisis. Issues with firms maintaining records and Anti Money Laundering procedures top the list with the largest amount of fines. So far there have been 5 supersize fines so far this year compared to only 2 at the same time last year. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway is that the total amount of disciplinary actions has not increased year over year, the fines are just bigger.
